Chad VanPelt
". . .the pain and the joy both fuse like siamese twins. . ."
Guitar

Born and raised in Virginia, Chad's spent most of his life living in Rockingham county. Chad began playing guitar in High School, Sophomore or Junior year (those details get fuzzier as the years go on). Not having much of a clue what exactly goth music was at the time, he listened to a lot of rock, including Smashing Pumpkins (who are still one of his favorite and most influential bands).

Chad first discovered the goth scene in Charlottesville through Bella Morte, a band whose first album he purchased on a whim at a CD shop. Enjoying the music, he went to their shows, and thus discovered The Dawning. Enoying the venue so much, he became determined to one day become a part of it. In 2001 he got his first DJ gig at (as DJ Rift). Afterwards, he couldn't get enough, and apparently didn't do too badly as he was asked back time and again.

In early Spring of 2003, Patrick Allen was asking around for people to help him with his musical project, any kind of help, especially people playing instruments. Chad was among those asked (originally for the position of Keyboardist), and was very unsure of his ability to do much more than critique at that point.

Then came the first Silent Muse show (March 29, 2003). Chad was not yet a part of the band, but did participate in the show as DJ for the event. After a good turnout and response, Patrick once again began asking around for fellow musicians to join him. In June of 2003 Chad agreed to join Silent Muse, but suggested the position of Guitar instead of Keyboards. Though Patrick was skeptical, Chad soon proved that the band could benefit in many unique ways with his skill. A mere 2 months later Chad played his first show at The Dawning.

Several shows, practices, zany antics, another member, and some recording later, Chad has continued to be an instrumental force in the continuing growth of the band. It's been a fun ride for him so far; here's to the future.
